Dubuque Democratic Herald – Feb. 6, 1864

Next spring on the opening of navigation, we look for active operations in the lumber business. A contract has been lent to Mr. Webb of Taylor Fall, Minn., to furnish Mr. C. Plein of this city, with logs enough to keep his saw mill in operation for the summer, and to be floated down with the first cake of ice from that quarter. A large sum of money has been advanced to the parties to bind the contract.
