Dubuque Democratic Herald – Sept. 15, 1863
A boy named McGraw, employed by Funston & Smith, attached Mr. A. Cummin’s son with a dirk knife, in which he was arrested, brought before Justice Welsh and fined $1 and costs. He is charged with biting off the end of a boy’s finger some time ago, and from what we can learn he is a bruiser on a small scale. Mr. Cummins’ son got the dirk away from him and received only a slight injury.
