Dubuque Herald –Jan. 6, 1876
The citizens of West Dubuque held high carnival last Tuesday night over the Mullin-Kingsley wedding and made the hills and valleys echo with an old fashioned centennial jamboree. The party congregated at the Col. Fred Herbst’s headquarters and after procuring a stock of ammunition went into battle, surrounding the Mullin mansion made the welkin ring with a tin pan serenade, mixed with horns and cow bells. The dead and wounded beer kegs were scattered broadcast over the hill and dale yesterday. ‘Twas a big night for West Dubuque and will long be remembered for the pleasure the wedding afforded.
