Second Lieutenant Lester J. Hartley, United States Army Air Force, arrived safely “somewhere in New Guinea” early in July according to word received by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. S. R. Hartley, 318 Lowell Street. Hartley received his pilot’s wings and second lieutenant’s commission at Eagle Pass, Texas in January of this year.
