MAJOR HANTELMANN
~
International News Service War Correspondent Art Cohn mentioned in his Sunday dispatch having seen Major Harold Hantelmann who is recuperating from injuries received at the siege of Buna, New Guinea. He wrote “At your first (University of Iowa football game, give them three big (cheers) for Major Hantelmann. He was an All-American guard in 1928. I saw him the other day. He was recuperating from a hand grenade that got him in the knee during the Buna Campaign. I suppose you know he won the Distinguished Service Cross in that show.” Major Hantelmann is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hantelmann, 1417 South Grandview Avenue.
