Charlotte E. Zahren, 92, Lake Park, died Sunday, Jan. 21, 1990, at the Lake Park Care Center. Services were 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 24, at the United Methodist Church, Lake Park. Rev. Harlan Gillespie officiated. Music was provided by Esther Burns, organist and Rev. Gillespie, soloist. He sang "Great Is Thy Faithfulness." The congregation sang "The Old Rugged Cross," and "Amazing Grace."
Honorary pall bearers were Steve Hensley, Stan Hensley, and Gilbert Zahren.. Pall bearers were Steve Eggers, Curtis Paulsen, Tom Vetter, Wes Vetter, Bill Zahren and Scott Zahren.
Mrs. Zahren was born Feb. 23, 1897, to Adam and Mary (Lenz) Lenz in Westport Township. She married C. Gilbert Zahren Dec. 17, 1919 in Everly. They farmed near Lake Park until 1930 when they moved into town. He drove truck from 1930 to 1964. After his death she worked in the Hilltop Care Center, and as a home care nurse.
She was a member of the Lake Park United Methodist Church, Am Vet Auxiliary, the Silver Lake Cemetery Society, and a honorary member of the United Methodist Women. She enjoyed flowers and gardening, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include two sons, Cecil and his wife Ellen and Gerald and his wife Jana all of Lake Park; two daughters, Herma and her husband Glen Hensley, Baldwin, Wis., and Lois and her husband Don Vetter, Larrabee; 16 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and one brother Adam, Lake Park.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother and five sisters.
Burial was in Silver Lake Cemetery, Lake Park. Turner Funeral Home, Lake Park, was in charge of arrangements.
