Robert Burl Titterington, 65, of Yankton, S.D., died unexpectedly Thursday morning, Aug. 10, 1989, at his home. Memorial services were at 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 12 at the Ray Funeral Chapel, Yankton, with the Rev. Tom Hurley, rector of the Christ Church Episcopal, Yankton, officiating. The body was cremated with the remains being interred in the Garden Mausoleum at the Garden of Memories Cemetery. There were no visitations.

Mr. Titterington was born on Aug. 27, 1923, in Mobey, Mo., to Everett and Pearl (Griffin) Titterington. He lived in Milford from early childhood until entering the Navy on April 10, 1941. He served with the Navy until Aug. 27, 1946, surviving the Pearl Harbor attack. A brother, Everett, was killed at Pearl Harbor.

Mr. Titterington married the former Independence (Indy) Morton on Aug. 28, 1946, in Minneapolis. He was baptized on Jan. 24, 1954, at the Christ Church Episcopal in Yankton by the Rev. L. Sackse.

He owned and operated Bob's Jewelry Store from 1960 until 1972, and for the past five years was employed at Royal Athletic Company in Yankton. Mr. Titterington was a member of the Yankton Elks Lodge No. 993, Ernest Boyer VFW Post 791 of which he was a life member, the Hillcrest Golf and Country Club, St. Andrews Lodge No. 208, Yankton A.F. & A.M., Yankton Consistory, El Riad Shrine, and the Yankton Moose Lodge.

He is survived by his wife, Yankton; one son, Brett Titterington, Yankton; one sister, Millie (Mrs. Ralph) Watson, Rialto, Calif. Mr. Titterington was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Lyle and Everett Titterington; and one sister, Dorothy Titterington Waldon.
