Funeral services for Verna C, Lenz, 90, of Arnolds Park were held Wednesday. May 7, 1986 at the Calvary United Methodist Church in Arnolds Park, with the Rev. John Poe officiating. Verna died on Sunday. May 4. 1986.

Onalee Elson provided organ music while Ben Decker sang "In The Garden" and "How Great Thou Art," and the congregation joined in later and sang "God Be With You." Pall bearers were Troy Iverson, John Lenz, Scott Werner, Cecil Zahren, Mike Werner and Gerald Zahren. Interment was in the Silver Lake Cemetery at Lake Park.

Verna Morton Lenz was born to William and Lizzie Green Morton on Oct. 29, 1895, on a farm near Kirkman in Shelby County, Iowa. She moved to a farm southeast of Lake Park in 1912. She was united in marriage to Nick Lenz of Lake Park, and to this union were born two sons, Arlo and Milo, and a daughter, Wilma.

From 1915 to 1945 they lived on a farm in Westport Township where they farmed and did truck gardening. In 1945 they moved to an acreage near Spirit Lake and continued to truck garden. In 1947 they retired and moved to Arnolds Park where Verna was employed at the Arnolds Park Amusement Center for the next 25 years. She retired in 1972 and continued to live in her home until the time of her death.

She leaves to mourn, her son, Arlo and wife Rhea of Maywood; son Milo and wife Bonnie of Las Vegas; daughter Wilma Snell of Arnolds Park; three grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Arthur of Ida Grove; sister, Florence Sylester of Council Bluffs.

Verna was preceded in death by her husband, Nick; one grandson Lenny Snell; four brothers, Ray, Earl, Irvin, and Charles; and her sister, Pearl Inman.

The Turner Funeral Home in Milford was in charge of arrangements.
