Beatrice Owens

Services for Beatrice I. (Bea) Owens, 87, Milford, were 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 19, 1990, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Milford Rev. Richard Remmes officiated. Music was provided by Wynette Moore, organist and Herman Richter, soloist, He sang "How Great Thou Art," "Just
As I Am," and "One Day at a Time." Pall bearers were Merle Clark, Neal Delaney, Bill Ruml, Charles Shorey, Clyde Weaver and Harm Wolthuis.

Mrs. Owens died Thursday, March 15, at the Dickinson County Memorial Hospital, Spirit Lake.

She was born June 23, 1902, at Coon Rapids, to Leonard and Clara (House) Fellows. She graduated from Milford High School in 1921. She attended Buena Vista College, Storm Lake, and taught school for 22 years at Lakeville and Westport Townships, Excelsior Consolidated, Royal and Terril.

She married Leo "Pat" Owens Dec. 26, 1941, and they made their home on a farm west of Milford. Bea enjoyed farm life, raising chickens, gardening, canning and the animals. She was also an avid reader.

She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, the Our Lady of Fatima Circle and active in 4-H both as a member and leader.

Survivors include her brother, Frank Fellows, Milford; a sister, Ruth Barnhill, Arnolds Park; four nieces and a nephew.

She was preceded in death by her husband and an infant sister. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery, Milford. Turner Funeral Home, Milford, was in charge of arrangements.
