SERVICES HELD FOR M. H. TITTERINGTON

WAS RESIDENT OF MILFORD AND ARNOLDS PARK SINCE 1912; TWO MINISTERS OFFICIATED AT SERVICES

Funeral services were held for M. H. Titterington, 74, at the Federated church here Wednesday afternoon. Rev. Jesse C. Korthal officiated, assisted by Rev. Paul Hadley, pastor of the Friends church at Arnolds Park. Burial took place in the Milford cemetery. The pall bearers were Lewis Boers, Leonard Froendt, Earl, Ralph, Lyle and Everett Titterington.

The floral pieces were arranged by. Mrs. Roy DePue, Mrs. Jesse Pugh and Mrs. Eva Miller. A trio composed of Mrs. L. B. Moreland, Mrs. W. G. Anderson and R. B. Nicol sang "In The Garden" and "Sometime We Will Understand," with Miss Lela Johnson at the piano. The
Masonic ritual services were conducted by Ray B. Nicol.

The obituary follows:

Maynard Harlow Titterington, oldest son of James and Nancy Titterington, was born near Edgington, Illinois, July 3, 1865, and passed away at his home in Arnolds Park, Iowa, February 19, 1940 at the age of 74 years, seven months and 16 days.

Mr. Titterington was married to Minnie Fellows at Kewaunee, Illinois, December 14, 1887, and celebrated the golden wedding, December 14, 1937. To this union eight children were born, seven of whom are living. 'They are Mrs. George Froendt, Clarence Harlow Titterington and Mrs. Arne Ballew, of Arnolds Park; Mrs. Barney Boers, James Ernest Titterington and Vernon Titterington of Milford and Mrs. Clint Olson, of Pomona. Calif. One son, Everett, and a grandson, Wayne Titterington, preceded him in death. Besides the widow and seven children he leaves 25 grandchildren, four sisters and three brothers. Mrs. Elsie Cole,: Salem, Oregon; Mrs. Belle Fellows, Rock Island, Illinois, Misses Sue and Velma Titterington of Rock Island,Frank Titterington of Davenport; Iowa; Clarence Titterington of New York City and Harry Titterington of Edgington, Illinois and several.nephews and nieces.

Following: the marriage of Mr. and Mrs. Titterington, they lived one year at Edgington, Illinois, and then moved to Coon Rapids, Iowa, in the fall of 1888, where they engaged in farming. They moved to Audubon, Iowa, in 1901 and in 1912 they came to Milford. Since 1918 he has lived
in Milford and Arnolds Park.

Last fall they went to California to spend the winter with their daughter, Mrs. Olson, where he was stricken with his last illness, about December first. He gradually became worse and upon his desire to be at home he was brought back to Arnolds Park, arriving here on February 12th, only one week before his death. . Although very weak and ill he was happy to be here with his children and was able to recognize them and call them by name.

Mr. Titterington was a kindly man —one of those men we like to meet, because his cheerful disposition and jovial manner seemed to dispel the clouds that sometimes hang low in every life. He was an indulgent father, loving husband and friend and honorable and upright citizen. Those who knew him best loved him most, for he was a good man. He was a member of the local Masonic lodge and of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Out of town relatives who attended the services were Mrs. Isabelle Fellows, of Rock Island, Illinois, Harry Titterington of Edgington, Illinois; Forest Fellows, of Milan, Illinois; sister, brother and nephew of the deceased; a daughter, Mrs. Clint Olson of Pomona, Calif.; and the following cousins: Mr. and Mrs Frank Ahrends and daughter, Christine and Mr. and Mrs. Morrisey, all of Estherville and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Clara Fellows of Marion, Iowa. Mrs. Olson and Mrs. Isabelle will remain for a week’s visit with relatives.
