Harl Titterington Dies On Duty

Clarence Harlow Titterington, eldest son of the late Maynard and Nancy Titterington was born near Coon Rapids, la., June 29, 1891 and passed away at Spencer, Iowa, Sept. 15, 1949 at the age of 58 years, 2 months and 16 days.

Harlow Titterington was married to Elizabeth Lenz at Sioux Falls, S. D., Oct. 30, 1913. To this union eight children were born, seven of whom are living. They are Mrs. Marcella Mann, of Kewaunee, Illinois, Mrs. Eloise Ferguson of Iowa City, Iowa, Ralph Titterington of .San Gabriel, Calif., Dallas Titterington of Fresno, California, Earl Titterington of Arnolds Park and Daryl and Joyce at home. A son Wayne and two brothers, Everett and Vernon preceded him in death.

Besides the widow, and seven children, he leaves two grandchildren, Judy Elizabeth and Vesta Nadine, and one brother and four sisters, Earnest Titterington of Milford, Mrs. Edith Ballew, San Francisco; Mrs. Hazel Olson, San Gabriel, California and Mrs. Faye Froendt and Mrs. Mabel Boers of Arnolds Park and several nieces and nephews to mourn his death. Following the marriage of Mr. and Mrs. Titterington they moved to a farm near Lake Park, Iowa and the rest of his life was spent farming in O'Brien and Dickinson County. He also worked as special police for several years in Terrace Park, Arnolds Park, and Spencer, Iowa. He passed away of a heart attack while on duty at Spencer.

Numerous friends and relatives attended from out of town.

Mr. Titterington was a kind and devoted husband and father. He was a great lover of children and could count his friends by his acquaintances. He was one of those men we like to meet because of his cheerful .disposition and jovial manner. Those who knew him best loved him most.

Funeral services were conducted by A. A. Catahzaro of Sioux City, Iowa, at the Federated Church in Milford Iowa on Sept. 19, 1949. The casket bearers were: R. H. Miller and G.H. Grover of Spencer, D. A. Smith of Akron, Ohio, H. B. Schroen of Sherburn, A. A. Doyle of Estherville, and R. D. Clark of Milford.

Arrangements for the funeral were under the direction of the Leysen Funeral. home of Milford Floral tribute were cared for by Mrs. Harry Wilson, and Mrs. Guy Hedrick of Arnolds Park and Mrs. Fred Gross of Milford, Iowa.
