ARCHER GRANT ASH LAID TO HIS FINAL REST

Archer Grant Ash, son of Mr. and Mrs. Elijah K. Ash, was born at Charles City, Iowa, July 24, 1868, and died at his home east of Spirit Lake, Iowa, February 4, 1936, at the age of 67 years, 6 months and 11 days, after being bedfast only eight days.

He came to Dickinson county in 1887 and engaged in farming. On March 1, 1893, he was united in marriage to Lena Below of Terril, Iowa. To this union were born two children, Archer Bert Ash, and Mrs. Leafie Sharp, both of Spirit.

Mr. and Mrs. Ash began housekeeping on a farm one-half mile east of Superior. From the time he was married in 1893 to the present time he has lived on the same highway and 21 years ago moved to his present farm home.

He was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church since 1894.

He leaves to mourn his passing a loving wife, two children, Bert and Leafie, four grandchildren, Esther, Lloyd, Dorothy and Carolyn Sharp; five sisters: Mrs. Melissa Henry of Charles City, Iowa; Mrs. Ernestine Hartman of Menahga, Minn.; Mrs. Grace Peterson, of Fargo, N. D.; Mrs. Lida Valleau, of Seattle, Wash.; Mrs. Emma Beckwith, of Broken Bow, Nebr., and one brother, Eri Ash, of Tuttle, N. D.

Three sisters have preceded him in death, namely; Mrs. Sarah Elkins, on February 22, 1906; Miss Alice Ash, February 13, 1932; and Mrs. Jennie Peterson on March 25, 1935.

He was a lover of nature, accepting it as an expression of divine wisdom and power. He was an efficient farmer, a splendid neighbor, a man of pleasant disposition, a devoted husband and father.

The funeral services were held at the farm home Friday, February 7, at 2:00 p. m. Interment was at the Superior cemetery. Rev. Herbert Marsh officiated.
