Dry Branch Cemetery

BRUMM, MEYERS

I am trying to discern if there is a cemetery in DM County known as the Dry Branch cemetery, or if perhaps it would have a different name, or even if anyone else has ever heard of it.

A granduncle and grandaunt of mine both died in 1920, less than a month apart. I have found their obituaries and funeral notices, and the burial location (as per The Burlington Hawk-Eye) is referred to as the "Dry Branch Cemetery." I know that it is in an area north of Burlington in Tama Township, but I cannot find any other mention of such a cemetery anywhere else, leading me to believe that it is known as something else.

The actual text of one of the funeral notices was (link added as well): "The funeral of Philip Brumm will be held from the Burnett undertaking parlors at 1 o'clock this afternoon with interment in Dry Branch cemetery, five miles north of the city. Friends are invited to these services."

Philip's wife was born a Meyers, and her mother, Dora, was buried at the Meyers Family Plot in Tama Township. I believe that is about the right distance north of Burlington, and wonder if anybody might know if it ever was also known as the Dry Branch Cemetery, or any other information regarding it. Thanks.

The funeral/burial notice in question.
