After almost a year of illness, Henry G. Meyer succumbed to his brave fight and died last evening, February 23, 1904, at Burlington Hospital shortly after 6 o’clock.

He was one of the Orchard City’s well known citizens having lived here many years. His wife and four small children survive him, besides two sisters and two brothers as follows: Mrs. F.L. Unterkircher, Burlington; Mrs. E. Kauffman, St. Louis, Missouri; C.G. Meyer, Tiffin, Ohio; and Philip Meyer, Stockton, California.

Henry G. Meyer was born 50 years ago in Mansfield, Ohio, and at an early age left his native city for the west locating in Burlington, which he since has made his home. On November 14, 1895, he was united in marriage with Miss Katherine Merte. Four children were the result of this union, who with their mother mourn a loving helpmate and kind father. The family home is at 721 Foster Street. Funeral arrangements will be made later.

C.G. Meyer of Tiffin and Mrs. Margaret Merte and daughter, of Rock Island, were at the bedside at the last.
