John R. Stewart, 60, of 512 North Plane, died Sunday, November 23, at Burlington Medical Center.

Born July 30, 1926, at Middletown, he was the son of Russell V. Stewart and Jessie B. Wyerman Stewart. He married Ruth Dickson June 15, 1946, in Burlington.

Mr. Stewart had been the owner of John's Auto Service since May of 1958. He was president of the Blackhawk Hunting and Fishing Club and a member of the American Legion. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. Surviving are his wife, Ruth; his mother, West Burlington; one son, Jeffrey Stewart, West Burlington; two brothers, Kenneth Stewart, Alexandria, Virginia, and Wendell Stewart, Burlington; and one sister, Barbara Erickson, Burlington.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Lunning Chapel.

Services for Mr. Stewart will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. John's Catholic Church with the Reverend Albert Hauser officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for St. John's Catholic Church.
