Katherine Sarah Gerst Davis, 84, of Burlington, died at 9:55 a.m. Saturday, February 27, 1999, at Burlington Medical Center.

Born September 23, 1914, in Oakville, she was the daughter of Julius R. and Sarah Knapp Gerst. In March 1935, she married Oscar Daniel Davis in Burlington. He died April 27, 1993.

Mrs. Davis was a housewife.

She was a member of Oakville Apostolic Christian Church in Oakville, and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Burlington.

Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Powell of Des Moines and Carolyn Earl of Davenport; five sons, Calvin Davis of Morning Sun, Wayne Davis and Ernest Davis, both of Chariton, Stanley Davis of Marshalltown and Steve Davis of Pocatello (Idaho); 22 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; five brothers, Herbert "Dick" Gerst of Mediapolis, George Gerst of Columbus Junction, Adolph Gerst and Ernest Gerst, both of Burlington, and Otto Gerst of Gladstone, Illinois; one sister, Edna Knotts of Sperry; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and one son.

Visitation will be after 8 a.m. Friday at Prugh's Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m.

The funeral for Mrs. Davis will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Prugh's Chapel, with the ministers of Oakville Apostolic Christian Church officiating.

A memorial has been established for Oakville Apostolic Christian Church.
