Frances Rita Gorman passed away on September 2, 2003 and was born Jan. 27, 1915, in Burlington, Iowa, the daughter of John Henry and Clara Marie Saftig Behne. She married Beryl J Gorman on June 27, 1936 in Burlington. He died April 26, 1974.
Mrs. Gorman worked in production in the mattress department at Chittenden and Eastman for 24 1/2 years. She retired in 1975.
She was a longtime resident of Autumn Heights and was a member of SS John and Paul Catholic Church. She loved to garden and bake.
Survivors include two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Marie Meyer of Burlington; nieces, nephews, great- and great-great-nieces and great- and great-great-nephews.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Gary A Gorman, her parents and two brothers, Theodore J Behne and Paul W Behne.
Visitation will begin after 8 a.m. Thursday at Lunning Chapel, where a rosary will be recited at 7 and the family will receive friends to 8 p.m.
The Mass of Christian burial for Mrs. Gorman will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Paul's Catholic Church, with the Rev. Patrick Hilgendorf officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
A memorial has been established for Notre Dame Catholic Schools.
