Mrs. Esther Dorothy Dannenbring, 97, of Burlington died at 12:05 p.m. Thursday, January 27, 2011, at Great River Medical Center - Klein Center.
Born July 12, 1913 in Burlington, she was the daughter of Herman and Marie Haug Sommerfeld. On November 18, 1931 she married Edward F. Dannenbring in Galesburg, Illinois. He preceded her in death on January 18, 1985.
Mrs. Dannenbring worked at Midwest Biscuit Co. for 16 years before becoming a realtor.
She was a member of St. Luke's United Church of Christ, Eagles and Moose Auxiliaries, National Association of Retired and Veteran Railway Employees and the Steamboat Senior Center. Besides her family, she loved dancing, trees and evergreens.
Survivors include three sons, Harry (Pauline) Dannenbring of Burlington, Jack (Norma) Dannenbring of Republic, Missouri and Charles (Pam) Dannenbring of Burlington; seven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; her good friends, Hugh and Mary Tasker of Burlington and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two brothers, one sister and her best friend, Robert Consbrock.
Visitation will be from noon until 6:00 p.m. Monday, January 31st, in Lunning Chapel where the family will receive friends from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m.
The funeral service for Mrs. Dannenbring will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 1st, in Lunning Chapel with the Rev. Vicki Engelmann officiating. Entombment will be in Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery.
Memorials have been established for Great River Hospice House, the Special Needs Foundation, and St. Luke United Church of Christ.
