Henry Edward Burgus, 61, 2024 Gnahn Street, died at Burlington hospital at 1:20 a.m. Sunday after an extended illness.

He was born in Des Moines county, February 5, 1885, the son of August and Emma Wiegert Burgus, and on November 25, 1908, married Louise Dreckmeier.

He was employed as a foreman at the Chittenden & Eastman company. He was a member of the Bethany Lutheran church, and of the Moose and WOW lodges.

Surviving are his widow; 5 children, Martin, Sperry; Edward, Kankakee, Illinois; Mrs. Marie Hudson, Yarmouth; Mrs. Ethel Dodge and Paul, Burlington; 11 sisters and brothers, Mrs. Rose Gerling, Herbert Burgus, Joseph Burgus, and Mrs. Emma Niehaus, all of Sperry; Arthur Burgus, Mediapolis, Mrs. Marie Shafer, Fairfield; Mrs. Helen Knott. Ft. Dix, N.J.; Mrs. Amelia Knott, Chicago; John and Edward Burgus, Burlington, and Mrs. Elizabeth Buescher, Sperry, and 7 grandchildren.

Services will be held in Prugh's chapel Wednesday at 2 p.m. Dr. R.R. Belter will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park cemetery.
