Walter Behne, 78, 1924 Vogt, was dead on arrival at Burlington Memorial hospital at 11:47 a.m. Sunday, March 9.

Mr. Behne was born in Burlington, February 7, 1897, the son of Henry and Sophia Detjen Behne. He served in the Army in World War I and married the late Dorothy Schoelkopf July 8, 1925, in Burlington. He was in the dry-cleaning business and later was employed by Burlington Golf club. He was a member of First United Church of Christ and of World War I Veterans.

Surviving: Daughter Marian Massey, Burlington; brother Albert Behne, Fremont, Ohio; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral: Lunning chapel, 1:30 p.m. Wednesday; Reverend Alvin Volle; Aspen Grove cemetery. A memorial to First United Church of Christ has been established.
