LIFELESS BODY FOUND BY ROOMMATE LAST EVENING
At His Quarters at Schenectady, N.Y., Suffered
With Throat Trouble Left Five LettersWilliam S.(?) Hermann, son of City Assessor Hermann, residing at 100 South Thirteenth street in this city, was found dead last evening in his rooms at Schenectady, N.Y. Death was sudden and from letters left by the young man it was apparent that ill health had deranged his mind, causing him to seek relief in death.
Wm. Hermann was born in Fort Madison, Iowa, Feb. 21, 1881. The family moved came to Burlington and William received his education in the public schools of this city, later learning the moulder trade. Four years ago, he went to Schenectady, N.Y., where he was employed as a core maker for the Edison General Electric company. He had been suffering with throat trouble and had undergone a operation. In a recent letter to his parents he stated that he was again having trouble with his throat.
William Hermann had many friends in this city who will mourn his untimely demise. He was a bright and capable young man and excelled as a mechanic. Far away from home, harassed by ill health, there is little doubt and small wonder that he was moved to a state of desperation that undermined his faculties and caused him to seek relief in death. The sympathy of his friends of his esteemed parents go out to them in this affliction.
The deceased is survived by the parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hermann, four brothers, Charles, Edward, Fred and Herbert and one sister, Miss Flora.
Charles, who was home on a visit, left this morning at 2 o'clock for Schenectady to take charge of his brother's remains.
The deceased was a member of the Masonic lodge, the Odd Fellows and the Moulders' union.
