MRS. FRED J. HERMAN DIES

Passed Away At the Burlington Hospital Yesterday Afternoon.

Mrs. Fred J. Hermann, widow of the late Fred J. Hermann, passed away at Burlington hospital at 5:00 o'clock last evening after a lingering illness of ten years. She had been in very poor health up to the time of the death of her husband three years ago, but since then she had failed rapidly. But slight hopes for her recovery had been entertained the past week. Two weeks ago her condition became serious and she was removed to the hospital, where the best medical skill and attention was accorded her, but she gradually declined until Friday afternoon when she became unconscious, death coming before consciousness was regained.
Wilhelmina Sandvos was born July 1, 1856, in Fort Madison, Iowa, and attended both grade and parochial schools at that place. June 17, 1877, she was united in marriage to Mr. Hermann, who preceded her to the grave by three years. After two years they moved to Burlington where she has since resided. The union was blest by twelve children, five of whom survive. She has a staunch member of the St. Lucas German Evangelical church.
She is survived by two brothers, Aug. M. Sandvos of Galveston, Texas and Charles H. Sandvos of Muscatine, Iowa, and the following children: Chas. F. and Herbert W. of Beloit, Wis., Flora E. of Burlington; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the late residence, 1103 South Thirteenth street and at 2:30 from St. Lucas German Evangelical church, corner of Fourteenth and South streets; interment at Aspen Grove. Services at the residence private.
