Patricia Ellen Hillgartner, 77, of Fairfield died Wednesday, March 18, 2015, at Great River Medical Center, West Burlington.
Born Oct. 27, 1937, in Williams, she was the daughter of Morris Mandeville and Margaret Irene Doyle Wood and her stepfather, Ralph Acedo. On Feb, 27, 1954, she married Raymond W. Hillgartner in Burlington. He died June 29, 2012.
Mrs. Hillgartner worked for IRC in Burlington, ran Country Cousins Café in Lockridge, and retired from Motorola in Mount Pleasant. She also sold Home Interiors. She attended school in Danville. She was of the Catholic faith. She was known as a devoted wife and mother and an amazing cook. She enjoyed her family, her grandchildren, cocker spaniels, lilacs, a good cup of coffee, fishing, camping, being outdoors and playing cards. Games and puzzles.
Survivors include two sons, Morris Hillgartner of Lockridge, and Rick Hillgartner of Harlan; five daughters, Rhonda Mathews and Cheryl Rich, both of Mount Pleasant, Roberta Benge of Kansas City, Mo., Margaret Coleman of Danville, and Sheila Blomme of Stockport; 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; three sisters, Irene Walsh of Adel, Betty Wagler of Fairfield and Shirley Langham of Ragley, La.; one brother, Roger Wood of Waimea, Hawaii; nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, her stepfather, one brother and one sister.
Visitation will be from noon to 7 p.m. today at Elliott Chapel, New London, where family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m.
The funeral for Mrs. Hillgartner will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 21, at Elliott Chapel, with the Rev. David Huskey officiating. Burial will be in Jaggar Cemetery, rural Danville.
A memorial has been established.
