DAVID MARSHALL

New London (IA) -- David Marshall, senior partner in the Marshall Motor company, died at his home in New London at 2:15 a.m. February 9. Marshall was 52 years old. He had been ill for many months.

A native of Des Moines county, Marshall was born September 24, 1900, the son of Ira D. and Blanch Larkin Marshall. He was married at Mediapolis to Margaret E. White on September 28, 1921, and went into the automotive business in New London 29 years ago.

Marshall was a member of the Methodist church, and had served as superintendent of its Sunday school. He was a former president of the board of education and a one-time member of the town council.

Besides the widow, Marshall is survived by three sons and three daughters Robert D. Marshall, U.S.A.; James D., Edward W. and Jane M. Marshall, all of New London; Mrs. Alice Poggemiller, Wapello, and Mrs. Ruth Metzger, of Burlington.

One daughter died in infancy.

Also surviving are his father, Ira Marshall, Sperry; five grandchildren and the following brothers and sisters B. E. Marshall, Mount Pleasant; Ralph Marshall, Mrs. Daisy Burgus, and Mrs. Hazel Granaman, all of Sperry, and Walter and Oliver Marshall, both of Burlington.

Last rites will be held at the Elliott Chapel at 2 p.m. Wednesday. The Reverend Paul M. McDade, pastor of the Methodist church, will officiate, assisted by the Reverend B. H. Finch, of Wilton Junction.

Burial will be in Kossuth cemetery, near Mediapolis.
