Glenn William Poggemiller, 71, of 602 West Mount Pleasant, No. 5, West Burlington, died at 9:45 p.m. Monday, October 15, 1990, at Veterans Hospital, Iowa City.
Born May 30, 1919, in Pleasant Grove, he was the son of Henry L. and Anna E. Shepard Poggemiller. He married Alice Marshall June 3, 1946, in New London. She died June 11, 1982. He then married Gladys Jeffrey Derr December 6, 1986, at Saint Paul's Church, Donnellson.
He worked for the U.S. Gypsum Plant for 21 years before retiring. He had also farmed. He was a member of the VFW Post 10102 and the Moose Lodge of Burlington. He was an Army Air Force veteran of World War II.
Surviving are his wife; two sons, Bill Poggemiller, Wapello, and Alan Poggemiller, Mediapolis; four daughters, Mrs. Marjorie (Larry) Colton, West Liberty, Glenna Slater, Conesville, Pam Elshoff, Coralville, and Mrs. Kathy (Mark) Begey, Wapello; one sister, Marie Appel, Carman, Illinois; 14 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The service for Mr. Poggemiller will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Lunning Chapel with the Reverend Robert G. Sherwood officiating. Burial will be in Kossuth Cemetery with military rites conducted by VFW Posts 7641, 9162, 10102.
Memorials have been established for the Moose Heart Fund and the Kossuth Cemetery.
