New London (IA) -- Last rites will be held at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon for 77-year-old Mrs. Olive May Coad Sawtell, who died at her farm home 2 miles southeast of Danville on June 5. Services will be held at the home, with the body being taken there from the McDonald funeral home at 10 o'clock Tuesday morning. Burial will be in the Long Creek cemetery.

Mrs. Sawtell, who enjoyed the unusual distinction of being the mother of 3 pastors, was born at Danville on May 3, 1871, and spent most of her life in that community. She was educated in the rural schools of the district, and at Howe's academy, Mt. Pleasant.

On April 28, 1897, she was married to John R. Sawtell, who survives, as do their 6 children: Mrs. John R. Van Osdol and Reverend Wayne C. Sawtell, both of Burlington; Coad M. Sawtell, of Loveland, Colorado; Reverend Paul W. Sawtell, Omaha, Nebraska; Mrs. Ben Nelson, Danville, and Reverend Chase A. Sawtell, of Edmonton, Canada,

Also surviving are 17 grandchildren.

Mrs. Sawtell united with the Methodist church early in life, and was an active worker in the church until overcome by failing health.
