Verna Belle Westbrook
Verna Belle Westbrook was born February 18, 1895, in Des Moines County, Iowa, daughter of John Wesley Barton and Mary Catherine Clark Barton. She died at the Clarke County Hospital, Osceola, Iowa, on August 27, 1974, after an extended illness, at the age of 79 years, six months and nine days.
Verna was educated in the Woodburn schools. On March 10, 1915 she was married to Claude Westbrook. To this union one child was born. She lived all the rest of her life in Clarke County.
Verna was a member of the Sarah Rebecca Lodge and of the United Brethren Church at Ottawa. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Claude and one son, Gerald Claude in infancy. Those who remain to mourn her passing include two sister; Mrs. Gilda Kerns of Santa Anna, California and Mrs. Violet McDonnell of Knoxville, Iowa; and one brother, Dale Barton in Alaska.
