Mrs. JaNan Lucille Summers, 46, of 701 East Pennington, West Burlington, died at 1524 Grove Street, Burlington, Monday, August 15 (1983). Assistant police chief Wendell Fatten said it appeared Summers died of self-inflicted carbon monoxide poisoning. A medical examiner's report will be issued later.
She was born January 8, 1938, in Mediapolis, to Cecil and Laura Gregort Hartman. She was a quality engineer at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant.
Mrs. Summers was a member of the Morning Sun United Methodist Church.
Surviving: Four daughters, Lynann Clark, Half Moon Bay, California, Patricia Jacobs, Morning Sun, and Rhonda Kennedy and Marcy Dotson, both of Burlington; her father, Cecil Hartman, Morning Sun; two brothers, Bill and Leo Hartman, both of Morning Sun; sister Doris Strawhacker, Oakville; two grandchildren; and one step-grandchild.
Funeral: 10 a.m. Friday, Lunning Chapel, the Reverend Alfred A. Cramer; Elmwod Cemetery, Morning Sun. A Kidney Foundation memorial has been established.
