Born Nov. 4, 1935, in Buffalo, daughter of Ralph and Georgia Strope Hartmann she was raised from the age of 4 by Archie and Gustie Johnston. On June 2, 1956, she married Leo Hartman in Morning Sun. He died March 3, 1995.
Mrs. Hartman worked as a nurse's aide for 35 years at the Morning Sun Care Center.
She was a graduate of Morning Sun High School. She was a member of Morning Sun United Methodist Church, Royal Neighbors of American and Ducks Unlimited.
Survivors include one daughter, Shelly Sternat of Mount Union; four grandchildren; and two brothers, Delmar Johnston of Morning Sun and Dal Johnston of Texas.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one half brother and one half sister.
The body will be cremated.
A graveside service for Mrs. Hartman will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Elmwood Cemetery in Morning Sun, with the Rev. Chris Thomas officiating.
