Death of Joshua Faris.
Joshua Faris, for a number of years a resident of the Sharon neighborhood, died at his home in Washington, Iowa, October 24, 1918, following several months illness. Funeral services were held Saturday morning at 8:30 at his late home in Washington; and the body was then brought to Sharon cemetery for interment, where a short service was conducted by Reverend E. L. McKnight.
Mr. Paris moved from the Sharon community to Washington in February 1911, and was a highly respected citizen.
Joshua Faris was born in Washington county, Indiana, April 25, 1835, and was the son of Isaac and Margaret McIntyre Faris, who came to Iowa with their family in 1856, locating in Des Moines county, in the Sharon neighborhood. Mr. Faris was united in marriage to Miss Nancy Mehaffy on January 16, 1866. She passed away some twelve years ago. He was a member of the Reformed Presbyterian church, first of the Sharon congregation, and then of the church at Washington.
Surviving him are five children: Mrs. Etta Walker of Burlington; Wm. I. Faris of Minot, North Dakota; Mrs. J. P. Baird of near Garland; Mrs. O. L. Samson of Washington, and John C. Faris of Mediapolis. He is also mourned by two brothers and two sisters: I. P. Faris of Washington; David Faris of St. Louis; Mrs. A. G. Cunningham of Washington, and Mrs. S. E. McElhinney of Denver, Colorado.
