Mrs. Gladys I. Baird, 93, died Sunday, November 19, 2006, at 2:55 a.m. at Wittenburg Manner, Crown Point.

She was born November 13, 1913, in Sperry, Iowa, to Roy and Pearl (Schuyler) Scott.

Mrs. Baird was a supervisor at First Merchant Bank/First Citizens for 11 years until her retirement. She also worked at the former Smith-Victor Manufacturing in Griffith, Indiana. She was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church of Michigan City, where she was a member of the Prime Timers. She was also a member of the Bank Retirees and the Michigan City Senior Center.

On May 17, 1940, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, she married Orville F. Baird, who died in 1997.

One stepsister, Elaine Dietrick, also preceded her in death.

Surviving are three daughters, Janice (Walter) Ivers of St. John, Indiana, Karen (William) McConnell of Findley (sic: Findlay), Ohio, and Ann (Allen) Campbell of Crown Point; six grandchildren, Raymond and Christopher Ivers, Kelly Kintzele, Katherine Shanahan and Shawn and Lindsay Cunningham; seven great-grandchildren; and one stepsister, Alice Nelson of Ankeny, Iowa.

The funeral will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Carlisle Funerl Home, Michigan City, with Reverend Nancy Kahaian officiating. Friends may call Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Michigan City.
