Charles Edward Fouts, 64, of 1204 North eighth street, owner of C. Ed Fouts & Sons floor covering company, died suddenly of a heart attack at 8 a.m. Saturday at his home.

Fouts was dead upon arrival of police ambulance and fire department inhalator squad. He had been a resident of this community for 40 years. A veteran of World war I, he was a member of the VFW and Eagles lodge.

Fouts was born March 6, 1896, in Hamilton, Illinois, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Fouts, and was married to the former Leatha Burroughs May 10,1917, in Burlington.

Surviving are his widow, a daughter, Mrs. Deloris Pepmeyer, 2 sons, Eugene and Mark Fouts, and parents, all of Burlington; 3 brothers, Thomas, Cecil and Russell Fouts, Burlington; 3 sisters, Mrs. Erma Badley, Mrs. Thelma Crooks and Mrs. Marguerite Wells, Burlington, and 5 grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Giles funeral home, with Reverend R. R. Hunger officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park cemetery with the VFW conducting military rites.
