Thelma Marie Crooks, 87, of 220 Summer Street, West Burlington, died at 8:25 p.m. Friday, June 21, 1996, at Burlington Medical Center.

Born January 21, 1909, in Bluff City, Illinois, she was the daughter of Elmer E. and Iva M. Osborne Fouts. On December 16, 1938, she married Fredrick L. Crooks in Palmyra, Missouri.

Mrs. Crooks was a December 1937 graduate of Burlington Beauty Academia. She operated Add A Curl Beauty Salon in Burlington.

She was of the Protestant faith.

Survivors include her husband; one daughter, Patricia Ann Brown of Missoula, Montana; two sons, Marvin Crooks of Burlington and Robert Crooks of Aurora, Colorado; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, three sisters and one grandson.

Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church Aldersgate Chapel.

The funeral for Mrs. Crooks will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in Prugh's Chapel, with the Reverend David Rogula officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
