Jack Richard Williams Sr., 62, of Mediapolis, died at 150 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5, 1996, at St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria, Ill.
Born April 11, 1934, in Chicago, he was the son of Merrill and Dorothy Day Williams. He married Shirley Tutor, who preceded him in death. On March 19, 1965, he married Patricia Heater in Oquawka, Ill.
Mr. Williams worked as a hoist operator at U.S. Gypson Co. in Sperry for 19 years.
He was a graduate of Ottumwa High School in Ottumwa. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of Progress Masonic Lodge 226 AF and AM and past master of Mediapolis, Kaaba Shrine and Scottish Rite of Freedom of Davenport, American Legion Post 243 of Mediapolis and VFW Post 10102 of Burlington.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Jack R. Williams Jr. of Burlington, Rick L. Notz of Cedar Rapids, Thomas M. Williams of Mediapolis; one daughter, Debra L. Green of Burlington; three stepsons, Fred Reynolds of Ottumwa, Mike and Dave Reynolds, both of Cedar Rapids; one brother, Bill Williams of Burlington; one sister, Jody Downing of Ottumwa; stepfather, Carl Parcel of Ottumwa; 11 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren.
Besides his first wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and one son.
Visitation will be after 11 a.m. today at Lunning Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. with Masonic Rites at 7 p.m.
The funeral for Mr. Williams will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Lunning Chapel with the Rev. Gary Biggs officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery, with military rites conducted at graveside by VFW Post 10102.
A memorial has been established.
