Alice Faye Wiley 1937 - 2009

Alice Faye Wiley, age 71 of LaHarpe, Illinois, died at 4:14 a.m. Monday, February 9, 2009, in the Fort Madison Community Hospital in Fort Madison, Iowa.

She was born October 25, 1937, in Burlington, Iowa, the daughter of Lester and Winifred (Anholt) Hartman. On September 30, 1956, she married Robert Wiley in Mediapolis, Iowa.

Alice and her husband owned and operated the LaHarpe Locker Plant for 30 years and Alice worked at Methode Electronics for 18 years. She was a member of the LaHarpe American Legion Auxiliary and the Blandinsville Bowling League for several years. She was very patriotic and avidly supported her grandson, Clifford, currently serving in Afghanistan, enjoyed cutting coupons for military families and regularly volunteered at the Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy. She collected hummingbird items and enjoyed going to local casinos and trips to Las Vegas. She never missed her grandchildren's or great-grandchildren's ball games and activities.

Survivors include her husband, Robert, two daughters, Sandra Pence (Kevin Shauman) of LaHarpe and Debra (Danny) Evans of LaHarpe, five grandchildren: Shannon (Felecia) Pence of Lomax, Amber (Jason) Duncan of Macomb, Andrew Pence (Lindy Shoemaker) of LaHarpe, Clifford (Anastasia) Evans of Brighton, and Skyler Pence of LaHarpe, six great grandchildren: Sidney, Taylor and Sawyer Pence, Jack and Ellie Duncan and Raiden Evans, one sister, Judy (Jim) Strausser of Morning Sun, Iowa, six brothers - Kenneth (Lea) Hartmann of Wapello, Iowa, Richard Hartman of Fairfield, Iowa, Fred (Nancy) Hartman of Winfield, Iowa, Larry (Carmen) Hartman of Oquawka, Ronald (Heather) Hartman of Stronghurst and Dennis (Debbie) Hartman of Mt. Pleasant. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews and a special Uncle and Aunt, Clinton and Marcella Bowman, of Burlington, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Lester C. Hartman, Jr.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 14, 2009, at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe with Pastor Bruce Goettsche officiating. Burial will be in the LaHarpe Cemetery. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Friday 6:30 until 8:30 p.m.. A memorial fund has been established
