Mildred D. Sheagren, 96, of 2409 Dehn St., died Wednesday, Nov. 6, 1996, at the Danville Care Center.
Born Dec. 19, 1899, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Carl Otto and Emma Holtz Sheagren.
She was a legal secretary for more than 60 years. She was a past matron of E.C. Blackmar Chapter No. 306 Order of Eastern Star and was a member of the Palestine Shrine No. 11, Ida Belle Lewis Circle of Kings Daughters, Agenda Club, Des Moines County Historical Society, BMC Auxiliary, Republican Women, NRTA, AARP and First United Methodist Church. She enjoyed knitting, needlepoint and gardening.
Survivors include one brother, Carl Sheagren of Burlington; a niece and nephew whom she raised, Pat Gerdom of Johnston, and Dudley Upton of Hemet, Calif.; and another nephew, Jim Sheagren of Burlington.
She was preceded in death by her parents and six sisters.
An Eastern Star service will start at 7 p.m. Friday followed by the family receiving friends from 730 to 830 p.m. at Sheagren Funeral Home.
The funeral for Miss Sheagren will be 1030 a.m. Saturday at Sheagren Funeral Home with Barrie Tritle officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
A memorial has been established for First United Methodist Church.
