Edward D. Hass, 82, of Burlington, died at 622 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, 1996, at University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City.
Born July 16, 1914, in Davenport, he was the son of Albert and Emma Wulf Hass. On June 24, 1939, he married Ruth Dee Lewis in Danville.
Mr. Hass worked at West Burlington Bank since 1949. He retired as executive vice president in 1982, after 33 years of service. He was Chairman of the Board.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Kiwanis member with 46 years of perfect attendance and president in 1965, Elks Club member for 39 years, American Legion member for 51 years and American Legion 40 and 8 for 49 years.
He was a 1933 graduate of Davenport High School and a 1937 graduate of University of Iowa, where he was a cross country letterman. He was a World War II Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Mary Hurley of Reinbeck and Jane Richardson of Bloomfield; and two grandsons.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
Visitation will begin after noon today in Lunning Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m.
The funeral for Mr. Hass will be 10 a.m. Tuesday in Lunning Chapel, with the Rev. Barrie Tritle officiating. Burial will be in Jaggar Cemetery in rural Danville.
Memorials have been established for First United Methodist Church and Kiwanis Youth Services.
