Milton "Bill" Rasche, 91, of 7 Cascade Terrace, died Wednesday, Nov. 6, 1996, at Burlington Medical Center.
Born April 25, 1905, in Burlington, he was the son of Fred and Lydia Schaefer Rasche. He married Edith Kleem Oct. 12, 1947, in Burlington.
Mr. Rasche had worked at Mutual Fire and Storm Insurance Co. since 1939, serving as secretary-treasurer since Jan. 20, 1950. He was a life member of the Zion United Church of Christ, where he was Church Consistory president, treasurer of the Sunday School for over 25 years, and was a church elder.
He was a member of the general council of Evangelical and Reformed Church at the time of the merger with the Congregational Church. He was a board member of the Emmaus Homes Inc. at St. Charles and Marthasville, Mo., for 25 years. He was a charter member of the Burlington Third Alarmers, serving as treasurer and member of the Fire and Police Board of Pension and Relief for 32 years. He was also a past grand officer of the United Commercial Travelers No. 393 Council, was a member and past president of the Des Moines County Insurance Agents, a member of the Easter Seal Society of Iowa, and a charter member of the Des Moines County Society for Crippled Children and Adults Inc., serving as president, treasurer and on many committees.
Several nieces and nephews survive.
Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
Friends may call as they desire at the Sheagren Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 130 to 230 p.m. Saturday at the Zion United Church of
Christ.
The funeral for Mr. Rasche will be at 230 p.m. Saturday at the Zion United Church of Christ with the Rev. Gary Chapman officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
A memorial has been established for the Zion United Church of Christ.
