Michael "Mike" Sereda, 49, of Burlington, died at 413 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 7, 1996, at Burlington Medical Center.
Born July 19, 1947, in Buholz, Germany, he was the son of Harry and Polina Ricotonkski Sereda. On Oct. 25, 1970, he married Mary Bogert in Franklin.
He was a graduate of Southeastern Community College, West Burlington and a Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War.
Mr. Sereda had been a welder and had worked at J.I. Case Co. for 25 years.
He was a member of Patriot Masonic Lodge 650 AF and AM, was first vice-president and served three terms as president of U.A.W. Local 807 and served on the Case Council, was member of Burlington Moose Lodge 579, V.F.W. Post 10102, committee man on first and second shift and was involved in various standing committees at J.I. Case Co. He was of the Protestant faith.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Shawna Timmerman and Sarah Sereda, both of Burlington; one son, Christopher Sereda of Burlington; two grandchildren; his father, Harry Sereda of Burlington; five brothers, Stanley Sereda of Spokane, Wash., Victor Sereda, John Sereda, James Sereda and Steven Sereda, all of Burlington; two sisters, Val Duckstein of Burlington and Bonnie Warnock of Liberty.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
Visitation will be from noon to 5 p.m. Friday at Lunning Chapel and from 6 to 830 p.m. at Zion United Church of Christ, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 830 p.m. after a 7 p.m. Masonic service.
The funeral for Mr. Sereda will be at 130 p.m. Saturday at Lunning Chapel with the Rev. David F. Kniker officiating. Burial will be in Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery with graveside Military Rites by Burlington V.F.W. Post 10102.
A memorial has been established.
