Mrs. Marjorie Dean Parsons, 87, of New London, died Friday, July 4, 2014 at the New London Nursing and Rehab Center.
Mrs. Parsons was born in Middletown on December 6, 1926, the daughter of Arthur and Grace Elvinetta Connop Conard. On December 31, 1944 she married Clayton Walter Parsons in Mt. Union. He died September 19, 2006. She was a 1944 graduate of New London High School and a former member of the Lowell Baptist Church.
She was a homemaker and a dairy farmer's wife. She was a member of the Lowell Get Together Club. She enjoyed cooking, baking cookies for friends and family and was known as the "Cookie Lady". She loved music and played for many weddings and funerals and also enjoyed going to the care center and church to play the piano and sing, along with her husband and five daughters. She loved her puppies.
Mrs. Parsons is survived by her daughters, Paula (Ted) Broeker-Mohrfeld of Mt. Pleasant, Sharon Phillips of New London, Debby (Daryl) Gipple of New London, Brenda (Dave) Anderson of St. Ansgar; and Jo (Dave) Hollingsworth of New London; twelve grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters, Betty Violon and Mildred Crocker; and brother, Arthur Clayton "Pete" Conard.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at Elliott Chapel, New London. Pastor David Mixon will officiate. Burial will be in Burge Cemetery. Visitation will begin after noon on Monday, July 7 at the Chapel and the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Memorials may be made to the New London Fire and Rescue or the New London Community School Music Department.
