Mr. Oscar R. Cline, 83, of Burlington died at 8:10 a.m. Tuesday, July 1, 2014, at Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.
Born August 16, 1930 in Burlington, he was the son of Oscar and Ellen L. Lightfoot Cline. On November 11, 1951 he married Patsy Neufner at Bethany Lutheran Church in Burlington.
Mr. Cline attended Burlington Community Schools and continued with college courses. He was a Korean War Army veteran serving with the 82nd Airborne Rangers.
Mr. Cline was sales manager at TRW-IRC of Burlington and later became president and marketing manager of Precision Resistive Products, Inc. in Mediapolis for 37 years.
Mr. Cline was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church. He was all about his family and enjoyed activities with them. He also enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, golfing, hunting and traveling - especially to Branson.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Patsy Cline of Burlington; one daughter, Pamela (Thomas) Newberry Sr. of Burlington; one son, Richard Oscar (Tracy Koett) Cline also of Burlington; six grandchildren, William Oscar Newberry, Thomas Michael Newberry Jr., Michelle "Shelly" Lynn Renteria, Amber Blynn Cline, Mackenzie Marie Cline and Huy Nguyen; eight great grandchildren, Sierra, Trevor, Auston, Trent, Brooklynn, Kayli, Ty, and Huan and one brother, Lee (Marge) Cline of Mt. Pleasant.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Robert.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Sunday, July 6th, at Lunning Chapel.
The funeral service for Mr. Cline, will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 7th, at Lunning Chapel with Pastor Marshall Jackman officiating. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. The Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard will conduct military rites.
A memorial has been established for Great River Hospice House.
