Richard Lant Sullivan, 74, of Burlington, died at 11:42 p.m. Saturday, December 27, 2003, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, Iowa.

Born July 1, 1929, in Media, Illinois, he was the son of Robert E. and Sarah V. Lant Sullivan.

Mr. Sullivan was a Korean War veteran of the United States Army. His occupation was UAW representation. He was a member of Local 1237 Champion, served as financial secretary from 1961-1966,local president 1966-1972, bargaining chairman 1972-1986, president of Champion Intra Corporation Council 1972-1986, member of International UAW staff 1986-1993, 1986 chairman of Credential Committee for Entire UAW Convention, member VFW Post 10102, American Legion Post 52, past president and member of Des Moines County Special Needs Foundation, active 1974-1999, member of Trinity Lutheran Church serving on the Church Council and Treasurer of the Church, founding member of Hope Haven Troop 15 Boy Scouts, member of Troop 63 of Stronghurst, Illinois. He was a Medicine Man in Silver Tomahawk Lodge 80 and also a Vigil Honor member.

On August 8, 1954, he married Marilyn Ann Moehn in Burlington, Iowa.

Survivors include his wife, Marilyn Sullivan of Burlington; two sons, Mike (Kate)Sullivan of Springfield, Illinois, and Patrick (Sara) Sullivan of Kaneohe, Hawaii; four grandchildren, Andy Sullivan, Scot Sullivan, Lena Sullivan and Anna Sullivan; two brothers, Jim Sullivan of Tucson, Arizona, and Gene Sullivan of Fallon, Nevada; one sister, Nina Dark of Fall River, Wisconsin, and two nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church.

The funeral for Mr. Sullivan will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 2, 2004, at Trinity Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.

Memorials have been established for Camp Eastman-Silver Tomahawk and Trinity Lutheran Church
