Robert Earl Sullivan, 75, of West Burlington, died at 8:25 PM Saturday, September 18, 2004 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. Born January 29, 1929, in Burlington, he was the son of John Henry and Winnie Mae Ancelet Sullivan. On September 4, 1955, he married Marilyn Sue Edwards at Grace United Methodist Church in Burlington. Bob was an Iron Worker with local Union # 577 where he received his 50 year pin. He was a 1947 Burlington High School graduate. He was a 1949 Burlington Junior College graduate where he played on the 1947 Burlington Junior College Championship Football Team as a starting guard. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War in the 532nd ESB?s. He was a former President of the Burlington Model Airplane Club. He also belonged to the Southeast Iowa Astronomy Club, Good Earth Organic Garden Club and was financial Secretary/ Treasurer to Local Union #577 for many years. He enjoyed all planes and trains, and playing pinochle. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, woodworker, and outdoorsman. He will be remembered best for his sense of humor and smile. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Leroy, and one sister, Doris Wilson.
