Bernie T. Strahn, 77, of Burlington, Iowa died at 4:20 p.m. Friday, November 21, 2003, at Genesis East Hospital in Davenport, Iowa.

Born December 15, 1925, in La Harpe, Illinois, she was the daughter of Stephen Bradford and Maude Hattie Mesecher Tilton. On January 26, 1946,she married Francis Miley Strahn in Keokuk, Iowa. He died October 4, 1968.

Mrs. Strahn worked in production at J. I. Case for 18 years before her retirement.

Bernie was a writer of children's stories, novels and in later years was the editor of the UAW 807 News and won awards for her work and writings. She loved her grandchildren and animals, and contributed to many charities.

Survivors include two daughters, Stepanie (Don) Wade of Burlington, Iowa; a sister Viola Thomas of Plymouth, Illinois; grandchildren, Becky Douglas, Michelle Gardin, Mindy Doane and Eddie Wade; great-grandchildren, Mike aand Amber Douglas, Kristofer Walters, Zach Harris and Autumn Doane; and nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one siter.

A Celebration of Life will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 26, 2003, at the West Burlington Christian Church with the Rev. John Griffith officiating.

Private family inurnment will be held in Aspen Grove Cemetery at a later date.

A memorial has been established for her grandchildren.
