Darryl J. Payne, 62, of Burlington, died at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday November 25, 2003 at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.

Born April 24, 1941, in Bethany, Mo., he was the son of Walter and Ida Mae Turner Payne. On April 26, 1969, he married Sandra K. Bean in Ottumwa.

Mr. Payne was night auditor at Best Western Motel. He was a Jehovah's Witness. He liked to read and watch TV.

Survivors include his wife; two brothers, Bert D. Payne of Bloomfield and Stacy P. Payne of Perry; two sisters, Rodetta Bever of Des Moines and Sylvia Woodard of Baxter; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

There will be no family visitation. The body has been cremated

A Celebration of Life for Mr. Payne will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Senior Citizens Center in Fairfield. Private family burial will be at a later date.

A memorial has been established.
