Flossie Maxine Jones, 90, of Burlington, died Wednesday, October 29, 2003, at Parkview Care Center.

Born May 27, 1913, in Albia, Iowa she was the daughter of Fred Jesse and Esther Brabham Ruggles Bean. On September 11, 1941,she married William Fitch. He preceded her in death. She later married Francis Edward Jones. He died in October 1957.

Mrs. jones was a writer. She wrote for The Burlington Hawkeye Newspaper and also wrote poetry.

She was a graduate of West Burlington grade school and a 1935 graduate of Burlington High School. She enjoyed reading and classical music. She was a member of Oak Street Baptist Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Mary Peters of Malabar, Florida; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Besides her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, one granddaughter, one sister and one brother.

Visitation will be from noon to 7 p.m. Sunday at Prugh's Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Monday.

The funeral for Mrs. Jones will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Prugh's Chapel, with Pastor Dean Graber officiating. Burial will be in Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery.
