Evelyn Scheihing, 82, of rural Mediapolis, died Saturday, June 16, 2007, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.

Born October 16, 1924, in Burlington, she was the daughter of George and Clara Pierrot Thie. On August 2, 1947, she married Herbert Scheihing in Canton, Missouri. He died February 8, 1988.

Mrs. Scheihing was a homemaker. She graduated from Sperry High School in 1942. She lived in Mission, Texas, for nearly 30 years. She was a member of Sperry United Methodist Church. She enjoyed farming with her husband and playing cards with friends.

Survivors include one daughter, Ellen Chase of Mediapolis; one son, Charles Scheihing of Neena, Wisconsin; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband, she was proceeded in death by her parents and one brother.

She will be cremated. Burial will be at a later date.

Memorials have been established for Sperry United Methodist Church and Shriners Hospital in St. Louis.

Hagele and Honts Funeral Home in Mediapolis was in charge of arrangements.
