Dorothy Louise Orr, 84, of Mediapolis, died Sunday, Dec. 17, 2000, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.
Born Nov. 7, 1916, in Mediapolis, she was the daughter of Russell C. and Edith Johnson Pilling. On Oct. 14, 1936, she married Paul Carl Orr in Mediapolis.
Mrs. Orr owned and operated De'Orr's Women and Children Clothing in Mediapolis.
She was a 1935 graduate of Mediapolis High School. She was a member of First United Meth-odist Church of Mediapolis, a charter member and 50-year member of Nellie Walker King's Daughters and a charter member of the Rebekah Lodge. She was a caregiver all her life to her immediate and extended family, as well as to others down on their luck. She especially enjoyed Christmas.
Survivors include her husband; one daughter, Marlene Beckman of Mediapolis; three sons, Paul R. Orr of Burlington, Charles R. Orr of Mediapolis and Harold J. Orr of Camdenton, Mo.; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Mildred Thie of Mediapolis, Frances Lundell and Alice Fye, both of Burlington, and Thelma McMurry of Fresno, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will begin at noon Wednesday at Hagele and Honts Funeral Home in Mediapolis, where the family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m.
The funeral for Mrs. Orr will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Hagele and Honts Funeral Home, with the Rev. Mel Miller officiating. Burial will be in Kossuth Cemetery.
Memorials have been established for Mediapolis Community Ambulance Service and her church.
