Edith Pilling, 88, Mediapolis, died at 5:33 a.m., Monday, Dec. 2, 1985, at Burlington Medical Center.

She was born Jan. 9, 1897, at Mediapolis to Frank and Hilda (Swenson) Johnson. She married Russell C. Pilling on May 3, 1915 at Mediapolis. He died June 12, 1967.

She was a homemaker and a member of the United Methodist Church.

Surviving: Five daughters, Dorothy Orr, Alice Fye and Mildred Thie, all of Mediapolis, Thelma McMurray, Fresno, CA and Fran Lundell, Burlington; 14 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mimmie Hawley, Ottumwa, and Gladys Sweney, Mediapolis.

Funeral services are at 1 p.m. today, Thursday, at Fry Funeral Chapel, with burial in Kossuth Cemetery. Memorials for the Mediapolis Ambulance Service and the Bus for the Elderly have been established.
