Mediapolis, Russell C. Pilling, 73, a farmer of the Morning Sun --Mediapolis vicinity, died in Burlington hospital at 11 p.m. Monday.

Mr. Pilling was the father of Mrs. Frances Lundell of Burlington.

He was born in Des Moines County on Dec. 11, 1893, the son of Charles B. and Alice (Seeds) Pilling, and was married to Edith Johnson at Mediapolis on May 3, 1916. Mr. Pilling was a member of the Mediapolis Methodist Church.

Surviving: the wife; 5 daughters Mrs. Thelma McMurry, Fresno, CA; Mrs. Alice Fye, Mt. Union; Mrs. Dorothy Orr and Mrs. Mildred Thie, both of Mediapolis, and Mrs. Frances Lundell, Burlington; brother, Jack Pilling and sisters, Mrs. Mary Hough and Mrs. Evelyn Nelson, all of Mediapolis; 14 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.

Services: Thursday at two at the Mediapolis Methodist Church, the Rev. Eldon Haworth officiating. Burial as in Kossuth Cemetery. The body is at the Fry Chapel.
